"…Inga Levant sets Korngold’s voluptuous music into a dark, opressive atmosphere, which becomes surrealistically threatening in act II. She develops the action unpretentiously with a sure hand for the characters, giving us a very believable story despite its non-realistic action - and she even redefines the finale by finding an unexpected turn to the ending…. All roles have benefited from her careful work with the singers, which definitely pushes this opera-video close to the quality of a movie… This is a DVD of the finest quality . Be warned: you might get addicted!"
